A Family Enterprise

From Cotton Fields
to Spinning Frames.

What began as raw cotton trading and ginning founded by N. Srinivasan — expanded into modern ring spinning by MD Asok Kumar, and now advanced by JMD Keerthan Asok Kumar — has grown across three generations into a trusted spinning operation. Today, AKR Spinning Mills produces pure 100% cotton, polyester cotton, and blended yarns for buyers across India and global markets.

We are not a distant conglomerate. We are a family that understands cotton fibre from bale to cone, cares about the yarn we produce, and takes pride in long-standing buyer partnerships.

Why Karded Yarn?

Karded yarn is produced without the combing step — retaining a mix of short and long fibres. This gives the yarn a natural, slightly softer handle and makes it cost-effective for a wide range of everyday textile applications.

  • Natural texture well-suited for knitted garments, jerseys, and shirts
  • Cost-effective without compromising on strength and evenness
  • Available in single and plied constructions (on enquiry)
  • Count range managed to your specification — enquire for availability
  • Quality benchmarked to Uster standards

How We Make It

The Spinning Process

01
STEP 01

Opening & Cleaning

Raw cotton is opened and cleaned to remove impurities and short fibres.

02
STEP 02

Carding

Fibres are aligned into a continuous sliver; short fibres and neps are removed.

03
STEP 03

Drawing

Multiple card slivers are combined and drawn to improve evenness.

04
STEP 04

Roving

The drawn sliver is attenuated further and given a slight twist to prepare for spinning.

05
STEP 05

Spinning

Roving is drafted and twisted into yarn on ring spinning frames.

06
STEP 06

Winding

Yarn is wound onto cones and inspected for defects during transfer.

07
STEP 07

Testing

Finished yarn is tested for count, strength, evenness, hairiness, and imperfections.
